Celebrating 70 at ’47 BOSTON
We all have that friend –– the one that has more of a birth month than they do a birthday. In 2017, ’47 turned 70, and we’re maybe a bit guilty of extending our festivities for this milestone occasion. Yep. We’re that friend. But who doesn’t love a good party?
Throughout the year, we’ve been sharing our story through various activations, events, and content –– celebrating with those who know us while introducing ourselves to new and future fans of our brand.
In 1947, our founders Arthur and Henry D’Angelo started selling sports memorabilia right outside Fenway Park –– about a mile away from ’47 Boston, our flagship store on Newbury Street.
On September 10 we gathered for some fun on those front steps during Open Newbury, when the Back Bay’s main drag is shut down for pedestrian traffic only.
To commemorate our history in a place we’ve called home for, we had on-site screen printing on pennants – the first memorabilia the D’Angelos sold on those Boston city streets. Party-goers could also try their luck at the claw machine, chow on Georgetown Cupcakes, and enjoy the sounds of sets from DJ YVNG PAVL. Our friend Courtney Cox with NESN even stopped by before the Red Sox game.
We’re thrilled if you’ve made it to any of our events so far, and the excitement isn’t done, so stay tuned as we see continue to celebrate 70 years with style. For an animated look at our history, hear the story right from our founders.
