WAR EAGLE: The War Eagle legend dates back over 100 years. Although the exact origin of the legend may be somewhat unclear, it’s impact is not. As the ultimate unifier, War Eagle cries are heard at every game and symbolize the true meaning of being an Auburn Tiger.

1957: Led by Coach Shug Jordan, the Auburn Tigers went undefeated in 1957. The legendary coach inspired his team to an undefeated record and the SEC title. The historic ‘57 run culminated with the Tigers bringing the National Championship back to Toomer’s Corner.

SHUG: Ralph Shug Jordan took over as head coach at Auburn in 1951. Highlighted by the 1957 national title, Shug’s era was one of great success. From winning national titles to mentoring Heisman Trophy winners, Shug became an undeniable Auburn legend. Two years before he even retired, the university renamed their football stadium in his honor.

IRON BOWL: Rivals Auburn and Alabama first met in 1893, with Auburn winning 32-22. After a tie in 1907 and a 41-year hiatus, the rivalry was finally renewed in 1948. Today, the in-state matchup known as the Iron Bowl continues to be one of the premier traditions in college football.
