Introduced last year, ’47 Redesign is a platform for designers to reinterpret ’47’s licensed sportswear. For the second consecutive year we invaded Pratt Institute’s “Deconstruct/Reconstruct” course, offering design students an opportunity to resuscitate ’47 deadstock apparel through self-expression and personal flare. While the initial creations of over 50 students were impressive in variation and style, Pratt faculty and the ’47 team honed in on four distinct looks to be featured at the April 25th ’47 Redesign Runway Show in New York City. The looks belong to sophomores KT Mitts, Stefan Maier, Hannah Thomas, and Xiaowu Zheng. Each finalist worked tediously...

In 2017, Carhartt x ’47 celebrated the unbreakable bond that exists between working men and their hometowns by launching our OUTWORK x OUTROOT collaboration. As two family-run companies with deep roots in Detroit and Boston –– two of the toughest sports towns in America –– the union makes perfect sense. Both have fans who know what it means to work hard, and hard workers who know what it means to fan.   Last year may have told only two hometown stories, but this time around we’re sharing that same excitement with home plates across the nation. On Opening Day 2018...

So LA For So Long

Take a walk through the streets of Los Angeles, and you’re guaranteed to see at least two things: incredible graffiti and basketball hoops. Paint on walls and sneakers on concrete are an indelible part of LA’s character, and with the arrival of the NBA All-Star Game on February 18, ’47 is thrilled to unveil a new collaboration with local artist OG Slick. In reinterpreting the marks for the LA Lakers, LA Clippers, Houston Rockets, and Golden State Warriors, OG Slick drew from his roots in graffiti, calligraphic inspiration from his mother, and a signature illustrative style to design a line...

Upon returning from duty, wounded service members most often request something so simple as a cap –– a way for them to cover head wounds from combat. This reality inspired the founding of Operation Hat Trick (OHT) –– an organization dedicated to helping these individuals and their families. OHT began at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) as a program that delivered free hats to wounded veterans in VA hospitals. The initiative started in honor of Nate Hardy (son of UNH professor and his wife) and Mike Koch: two Navy SEALs and friends who fought and died together in Iraq...

Let Your Colors Out @ SBLII

One of the greatest displays of personal expression might live in a sports fan, though fandom shouldn’t be labeled as any particular look. At ’47, we love to see how an individual shows their spirit, so we’re constantly looking for more ways to visualize and share this mantra.   Face paint is a bold, creative form of expression used by the some of the most passionate fans. Through the paint, emotions of the human canvas become obvious through tears, smudges, and creases. It’s as if the added colors complete the uniform.   Throughout the 2017-2018 NFL season, we reinterpreted traditional...

Patriots Nation Tradition

Calling something a new tradition almost seems like an oxymoron –– but all great things have to get their start somewhere. When Roxanna Rajabi’s parents emigrated from Iran to Boston, there would undoubtedly be some adjustments. Almost as a rite of passage in New England they didn’t just join American culture. They joined Patriots Nation. Sundays for the Rajabi sisters started with playing (and winning) pick-up football games in their close-knit Natick, Massachusetts neighborhood. Always home in time for kickoff with Dad, whose passion for the team required at least a one-yard radius of space for proper end zone dances....

Ask a few fans of professional hockey what their favorite part of the sport is and well, they might say the fighting. Hey, it’s an intense face-off of high-performing athletes, and tension on the ice can make for some of the best games. But there’s a more important fight going on off the ice, and that’s the one against cancer. Since 1998, the Hockey Fights Cancer™ charitable initiative has been uniting the community to help cancer patients and their families by raising funds that contribute to research institutions. Through special events and thoughtful storytelling, the organization is bringing more attention...

No matter what team you root for, you’re never alone. Part of what makes cheering for your favorite team so thrilling is doing so alongside other passionate fans. The bond formed amongst fans is often as strong as the bond forged between the players they root for on the field. Though these friendships exist within other fan communities around the world, New England Patriots fans are a special bunch. Their game day football families unite to cheer on the Pats with a fervor that ’47 and the Patriots want to celebrate and share with the rest world. This year, ’47...

We all have that friend –– the one that has more of a birth month than they do a birthday. In 2017, ’47 turned 70, and we’re maybe a bit guilty of extending our festivities for this milestone occasion. Yep. We’re that friend. But who doesn’t love a good party? Throughout the year, we’ve been sharing our story through various activations, events, and content –– celebrating with those who know us while introducing ourselves to new and future fans of our brand. In 1947, our founders Arthur and Henry D’Angelo started selling sports memorabilia right outside Fenway Park –– about...

Along with anticipation for the fall harvest comes the thrill of knowing football fever is about to takeover quaint communities across the state. Cheeseheads unpack their namesake paraphernalia. So good, so good, so good. That was the energy when a group of local and loyal lady Red Sox fans united over one of their favorite pastimes last week when ’47 partnered with the newly founded Boston Female Fan Association to host a happy hour at our flagship store on Newbury Street. The post-work/pre-game party was a way to show appreciation for, and harness the power of the female fan community. The Boston Female Fan Association provides a forum for women to unite over their love of sport via events, digital and traditional content, discounts, other perks –– and...

As sports fans ourselves, we know how important a home stadium is. We also know that these stadiums would be nothing without passionate fans to fill them. There are many teams who boast an enthusiastic, dedicated fan base, but only the Green Bay Packers and their fans can call Lambeau Field home. This year, ’47 and The Packers are asking Packers fans to share what makes Lambeau Field special for a chance to win tickets to see the Packers take on the Seahawks on September 10th, along with new Packers gear from ’47. The winner will also receive a chance...
